The Hiltons of Hilton Castle
Alan Gibbon, a Hyltonian, wrote this ‘long essay’ as he calls it well over fifty years ago as part of his teacher training. It is a very detailed story of Hylton Castle and we are grateful to Alan for allowing the Society do with it ‘as we see fit’. What could be more fitting than by making his work available here on our wesbite.
A History of South
Hylton Tom Hunter, a well known Hyltonian put this information together, and in 2002, his son Keith compiled it into the work it is here. We are very grateful to Tom’s family for giving us a copy and allowing us to use it as we wish.
