This was the first to be built in South Hylton and was of a wooden structure and built on land at the end of Primrose Street. It was built in 1935 and was dedicated to St. Anne. It is said the building was built by village people.
When it closed in 1957, it was replaced by the present Church on Hylton Road and opened in November 1957. The site of the church in Primrose Street is now occupied by houses.
